Ted has now been running his club since 1990 and it is a firmly established venue for T girls and their admirers every Thursday night. He also runs a more chilled out evening on Sundays.
Thursday night is well known by the established community but there may be many newcomers who are unaware of one of the premier meeting places in London.
I wrote an article about two years ago on Teds Place for a magazine and append a slightly amended version below so that you can get the flavour of the evening.
305a North End Road,
0207 385 9359
The Friendliest Place in Town.
Thursdays TS TV Disco Night
London's top Night Club
for TG's and their friends
Hidden away in Fulham, west London, is one of the scene’s best known bars.
Walking down the North End Road, you won’t see flashing lights and bouncers outside the door of one of the oldest venues for trans people. In fact, you could walk past the entrance without knowing it was there. For those in the know, there is a big sign in the window in red proclaiming:-
Described as the ‘Friendliest Place in town’ it provides a unique meeting place for T girls, friends and admirers every Thursday night from 7 pm to last orders at 2.00 am.
The staff are wonderfully friendly and you are warmly welcomed by Ted,
who will invariably greet you with ‘Hi Babe. How’re doing?’
The club is in the basement and is a blend of bar and disco with music mixed by resident DJ Dennis (who also DJ’d at Ron Storme’s club in Stepney).
The club started in 1945 and was originally run by Ted’s uncle as The Sports Supporter’s Club, through to 1990, when it closed. If it hadn’t been for a chance remark by Ted’s mother, as they were walking past, that the premises were empty, the Club as we know it would never have evolved.
Ted had been running the bar and functions at The Hurlingham Club, in Fulham, and decided that he had the right experience for taking number 305 on. Ted’s Place was born. It ran as a general bar until 1992, when it became a women only club (Fannies), which won the Women’s Best Bar Award in the Pink paper for two years running.
Along with the regular evenings, there were Blind Date and Karaoke nights and Ted found that a number of T girls were coming along. He tells me that he had read an article in the Beaumont Society magazine and decided to start advertising in Time Out Thursday and Saturday nights for T girls and their friends. On Saturdays he arranged cabaret, with well known artists, such as Dave Lynn. This was about fifteen years ago but because of pressures on Ted’s personal time and the fact that other clubs provided venues on the Saturday night, the Club is closed Saturdays, apart from occasional special events.
It is possible that Ted could proclaim the Club to be by Royal Appointment. The story goes that one evening four young men arrived wearing male garb but faces made up as girls. One or two of the patrons thought they recognised one of the heirs to the throne and later they were spotted being whisked away in a car bearing HRH.
In fact Ted’s is host to many Queens and Kings if you think about it, so no big deal.
Ted’s has visitors from all over the world and caters for all T girls at whatever stage they are at. There are changing facilities in the loos but you must get there at opening time before the rush starts and I warn you it is very cramped.

Afternoon fun for like minded people in a discreet and cozy environment in Folkestone.
For the girls a nice place to chill out and be the girl you wish. Dress and meet other girls and admirers. Or if you feel more comfortable just bra and panties. Girls are allowed to wear high heels. For the girls who prefer to change on arrival and do their make-up you can do so in private. Usually have 4/5 regular girls attend who do not have TVchix profiles.
For the guys and admirers a place to chill out and meet the girls. Supervised lockers are available. Soak up the atmosphere and let the girls help you unwind and relieve you of the stress of work. If you want a lovely warm soapy shower on arrival and before you leave. Relax in the play lounge where there is video and sound playing quietly in the background. Alternatively, you will find other private little nooks and crannies, the ideal place to take a girl, and have lots of fun at your own pace.
Guys are discouraged from wearing shoes up stairs and girls are asked to take care when wearing stilettos.
Donation of £12 (FREE 2nd visit in same week)
Donation includes Tea, Coffee, Locker, Towel, Shower, lubes and not forgetting CONDOMS. Poppers and Kamagra (pills) are also available to purchase. There are no other fees or hidden charges so don't bring a wallet with anything more than your donation. Our experience has been that girls are very well trained to be polite and facilitating and the majority are dedicated and conditioned to just love guys as our regular guests know only to well. Sometimes we have girls who just like girls and male guests are quite happy to let them enjoy their own company without interference.
CT19 is a place for t-girls to dress and hang out, for male admirers to come and meet a girl and spend some time with her. This is discreet private venue located in a residential area so please respect that when parking, prefer you park your cars in the main Canterbury Road and girls that do come dressed please at least wear something conservative when arriving and departing.
We ask that newcomers phone us in the first instance from the Black Bull pub car park in Canterbury Road, Folkestone and ask for directions and we are only a few minutes away. When telephoning us please be courteous and do not withhold your number. We don't want your number to pester you in anyway - but it is courteous.

Trans-Matters Social Group, is holding a drop in evenings for members of the CD TV TS community, who like to cross-dress and meet others in a private safe & friendly environment, so just call in any time between 5:00 & 9:00. The event will be held every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. This is primarily a social group rather than a dating site. A chance to meet old friends and new ones. The aim of the group is to provide a social evening for existing members and help new members with their confidence in dressing and end the stigma and isolation that many feel. We have the use of a coffee lounge, kitchen, wc’s and a room to dress and apply your make up for those not able to arrive dressed. A chance to dress in the way you like and be yourself in the company of like minded others. We have members from all walks of life, in all shapes and sizes aged from 20's to 70's, we are not all glamour models so don’t worry, we all feel better and look younger when dressed and made up. It’s a fun and lighthearted evening were you can engage in conversation on any subject you like, exchange dressing tips and make up ideas, new members are always made welcome, so no need to be shy you will not feel out of place. We have a qualified beautician that will help with advice on makeup. For those feeling confident enough we usually go to a local pub dressed after 9:00 to round off the evening (you could go back to drab). There is no charge to attend! YES ITS FREE! However a small donation is welcomed to cover tea and coffee etc.
Please mail me at tvChix if you require any further information, allow me time to reply. Norma_x
History. The Existing members of our group came from Gender Matters before it had to close its premises due to project funding coming to an end. GM is a registered charity; it still exists and is continuing its brilliant work for LGBT movement. The members of our group are grateful for the support we received from them, without GM our group would not exist. Our group hopes to meet the need for Social Meeting’s that were very successful at GM when it was able to host them, we are not trying to compete with any other groups but hoping to add another choice for those who wish to attend. We would like to thank Wolverhampton LGBT for the use of their building.
