I am forty five, work and live in the North East of England where I have lived all my life. I am probably best described as 'chubby' although not fat!! I have blue eyes, 'dark purple' hair (my favourite colour!) and a thing for silver jewellery! My second favourite colour is black...which is good as that's mostly the colour I wear!
My proudest moment was when I transitioned in 2000, up to that point my life was not really mine.
I have a lot of interests but my main interests are politics, and equalities campaigning as well working with environmental groups.
I have a passion for green issues and LGBT rights and work hard with the trade union movement to ensure these issues are highlighted.
In my spare time I enjoy good food, cooking, reading, music and movies. I love meeting new people and listening to the stories of others, in particular trans people.
I am new to this site so was wondering what to write, over the last few days I have read numerous profiles and every one has much more information than I have written so I thought I would put a little more information on mine.
As I say I am forty three and was married for nine years before I was able to decide that I could no longer live a lie. I have known for a long, long time I was in the wrong body but I just simply tried to hide it. eventually I simply couldn't. I told work, my friends and my family...some ran to the hills but most, including work supported me through a very difficult period in my life that resulted in 43 recorded incidents of transphobic hate crime where I lived. I still kept going... That was seven years ago. Since then I have campaigned tirelessly for trans equality in my community, in our region and nationally. I represent several organisations who themselves campaign for LGBT equality and I really enjoy what I do.
I love who I am and I am first and foremost Phillippa, although everyone simply calls me 'Pip'. I am not attractive, in my head at least however I am happy. I have been hurt several times by relationships that have gone wrong so I am quite cautious. I joined the site to simply get to know other trans people, whether 'out' or not! Who knows's I might meet someone who likes me for simply being me.
