Hi,

I'm Debbie, from Cumbria in the UK

I'm blonde, blue eyed, tall, with long legs and (so I'm told) a nice smile :)

I'm a pre-op transsexual woman, living full time in the big bad world since 2005, It's big, but it's actually not so bad.

I'm a straight female - so men are my thing. Happy to make new transgendered friends - but nothing beyond that thanks...

I'm looking for friends, or maybe a bit more. Who knows, perhaps even Mr Right?

------- Short bit for people who are interested in me -------

If you want to get in touch because you're interested in me please bear in mind that I'm a real person - with feelings. Too often now people have been ever so enthusiastic and gone so far as to say they want to meet up.... only to then cancel, then re-arrange, then cancel... or simply to disappear.

I'm the kind of person who if they say they are going to do something, I do it unless there's a serious reason why I can't - and then I let people know - and the trouble with that is that I expect the same in return but all too often don't get it. Which kind of leaves me upset/wondering and very disappointed.

I can understand that letting a transsexual person into your life involves a certain amount of adjustment - and that it must be a worry how your friends and familly might react. So, please think carefully before you get in touch. I might be YOUR fantasy, but actually I'm a real person and I lead a real life - not a fantasy one. I think I've a lot to offer the right person - so please treat me with respect and honesty.

-------------------- Thank you, Debbie x ----------------

I LIKE;

Foreign travel - I've seen a fair bit of europe but want to see more, Thailand, Singapore the Philipines, California (San Francisco) and Istanbul. My adventures for 2011 was Milan in May - overwhelmed by DaVinci's last supper and Milan's two Cathedrals - Il Duomo and San Siro! Captivated by Lake Como and overwhelmed by some seriously expensive (window) shopping. May 2012 I was in Sevilla, Cordoba and a return to Malaga for more Moorsih architecture, gardens, gothic cathedrals and (to watch) flamenco dancing! In December 2012 I was lucky enough to go cruising down the Nile from Luxor to Aswan and in June this year I visited friends in Nevada/California and managed to fulfil a long standing wish to walk in stands of Giant Redwood trees - which were awesome!

Before that, In 2010 I was in Syria in December - a true history fest from pre-history through Roman and the Crusades - and Damascus was amazing - not least the Umayyad Mosque! Before that in Andalucia at the end of June 2010. I enjoyed visiting the Moorish fortifications and palaces at Malaga and Granada, the old town in Tangier (Morocco) and the ancient town of Ronda. The food (and wine) were pretty good too - and the sunshine was a tonic.

It would be nice to have someone special to go with on my next adventure though...

Shopping (and sight seeing) in big cities - especially when combined with eating out - especially especially if that involves Italian restaurants!

Nights out at the cinema or theatre - especially when combined with... well, I said that already :)

Nights in with a good film or a good book or somebody nice...

My friends. I'm very lucky to have some really good ones.

Walking out in the Lake District - which I'm very fortunate to live right beside.

Watching Liverpool F.C. (on the telly). I've been a fan since I was little - and went to University in the city.

Being creative... not that I ever get time really...

Riding my motorbike... as long as it's dry and warm and preferably sunny... which can't be guaranteed round here...

OTHER things about me

I'm a strong believer in being positive and making the most of life.

I work in Engineering Design, which perhaps wouldn't be my first choice nowadays - but it pays the bills :)

I enjoy learning new things and have been studying psychology - partly in an attempt to understand myself :)

I'm nice and generous (apparently) and perfect (ok, I made that bit up).

That will do for now... I look forward to hearing from you... :)

SIGNIFICANT NEWS - READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!!

This October I went part time at work and returned to University to study a Masters in Psychological Research and a module in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This is the bravest thing I've done since transition and I'm absolutely loving it so far. I don't know where it will lead yet - the possibilities include Clinical Psychology, Research, Counselling or Engineering Management positions - or who knows what else? It took a deal of pondering to make the decision, especially given the short term financial implications - but I am so glad I took the chance :-)

A BRIEF BIT FOR PEOPLE CONSIDERING TRANSITION.......

For anyone looking to follow this path I would say the following. It isn't an easy path - and you do need to have a certain amount of mental resilience. If you have other big issues in your life try to resolve them first! There are pros and cons which need to be weighed up and you may lose some people you thought would be ok - and keep some you didn't! I have found it to be worthwhile and am much happier in myself, but there is no guarantee that others will find that to be the case. Don't make haste (some do), consider carefully and get some professional counselling. Make sure it's what you really want - and that the likely sacrifices will be worthwhile. MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL, do not think that transitioning will be the answer to all of your problems. It may solve your gender issues but it won't solve your financial/relationship/career or other unrelated problems. It may make you happier within yourself but it won't, in itself, make you happy. It may indeed bring other problems and you will need to be ready to tackle these.

I know that comes across as pessimistic - but really it's just realistic. There is a lot to be gained from transitioning but as we say up north 'You don't get owt for nowt' - there will be some price to pay, and it's better to consider and face up to that fact than to have it hit you like a ton of bricks after you've committed yourself.......

If after all that you decide it's the path for you then 'bon voyage' - I wish you well and hope you find the contentment that I have been fortunate enough to find.

Take care, Debbie x
