I went to Golden Girls and had a very enjoyable time and met the hostess Gaynor and she was very pleasant and warm friendly and made me feel at home. I would thoroughly recommend this venue to everyone. Warm friendly gathering of fun people, with time and travel distance will visit again as soon as i can Lucy xx |

Another cracking night out our golden. great music and loads of dancing and a new face who knew all the moves! A useful friend to have indeed. plenty of folk to dance with an extended happy hour on the drinks. Wot's not to like? Such a horrible wet night outside but warm welcoming and much dancing inside. More please.

Beautiful, fun, lovely atmosphere and nice people. This is an event I started to give those that are not convincing the chance of being in public in a safe place having fun mixing with everybody else, instead of going to those trashy sex clubs. You do not have to be convincing, all you need is to show that you have made an effort to look nice, and respectable amongst the public, so that we achieve respect amongst the public. Over the years many have visited this venue and experienced that friendly atmosphere. What a fun place it is. Occasionally we have to remind a minority that this is not a sex club.

Value for money is very good...as it's free to get in!! :-D Once inside, drinks are reasonably priced for a Cardiff city centre venue. This particular Golden Girls was on the same day as the Pride Cymru event, so pub was very busy, but we still found room for dancing as the pub has three different rooms! Lots of familiar faces from previous events, so they attract a loyal following. Perhaps most importantly, the Golden Girls events (and the Golden Cross pub in general) are a very good place to go if you have never been out 'en femme' before (it was the first place I ever went to) and can be somewhere where you build up confidence to then get out and about to other places...though you'll probably find yourself going back to the Cross quite a lot too!! |

What a fabulously long day of FUN. Thanks to all those who contributed to our finest day. Starting with the girls who came on the Cardiff Pride biggest event of the year at 11am. Its the first time I have ever seen T people on this Parade. WE THE GOLDEN GIRLS Pioneered the T in LGBT on this day, what courage to be seen in daylight in the Capital City of Wales. This was a fun day and we were all well received by everybody. WE HAD SHEER FUN.!!!! Part 2 of the day was at the big event in Coopers Field next to the castle. People wanted us in their photos, teenagers were dancing with us. What a further extension of our confidence in public. PART 3 a meal early evening in a popular restaurant which was fully attended. Lovely meal nice company and well accepted by fellow diners. Part 4 into our home the Golden Cross, crammed full of friendly people. we all had a great time inside and outside the pub as people were spilling onto the pavements. Around 11pm I received some personal bad news, but never said anything. However I carried on - the show must go on - and the opportunity to see a live band just down the road from the Golden just came into sights, and was grabbed by some. I realise its not everybodys cup of tea, but a lot of people love it. It was FREE!!! As is the Golden. So there was an extra dimension to our nights which was tried out and found to be really really good. This added real value to the night, and as ever you needed to be dressed appropriately in public, to be well received by the public. Which we are as WE ARE THE GOLDEN GIRLS. After the band finished, we went back to the Golden at god knows what time and continued dancing. I left to find out more about my bad news. So sorry I could not get around to see all the way I would normally try to, but it was a really long day, as I was up at 7am and home at 2:30 the next day.

A bit of a chaotic Girls due to the golden being flooded with folk from cardiff pride. Still much dancing socialising and jolity. The golden never disappoints plus one of the few places in cardiff FREE to get in on pride saturday!

Another epic night of golden girls. the drag acts were good and we danced loads to them. Disco FAB with a packed dance floor and lots of fun had by all including some new faces. It was so much fun and what with the act's over running a bit the light hearted 'beauty' pagent was postponed so come on girls. you have a second bite at the cherry. get along to the next one and try your hand. it's only a bit of fun. No need to take it seriously or just ignore it and enjoy the night. i did.
