When we were chatting to people at Plymouth and Cornwall Pride, we were asked if there were any support groups for trans and non-binary people who may be struggling with who they are and where their journey is going, or quite happy being who they are without feeling the need to transition but needing somewhere they can talk about things that affect them. We were also asked to start one for parents/siblings/partners of trandsgender or non-binary people, who are also trying to be supportive but not having anywhere to turn for support, advice or just the chance to say how they feel with friends who will empathise and understand.
So... our Trans & Non-Binary support group starts Tuesday 19th September. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available. We have our own car park. If you wish to travel in birth gender mode and change here, we can facilitate that. This is a place you can talk about things that are affecting you, or just share your thoughts and offer support to others. No hierarchy, cliques or judgments, lots of chat, understanding and friendship.
The last Tuesday of each month will be our 'Family Matters' support group for parents, siblings and partners of trans people. I will create a separate event for this, please feel free to tell your significant others.
If you have any questions, please ask.
