As the only "Significant Other" who regularly attends, I'm always made to feel welcome, and part of the group. The first part of the evening is spent at Wild Bytes café. Though it's open to the general public, it's usually mostly just us by that time, and we are made very welcome by the lovely couple who own it. They really should be stricter about making us leave on time! The second stage, for those who feel confident enough, is a short walk away at the Lytch Gate Tavern. This is a smashing old-fashioned pub which specialises in having a good range of real ale. Sometimes we use the upstairs function room, but as it was quiet, and our members have gained in confidence, we took a table in a corner of the main bar. There's no loud music, so we can enjoy a proper conversation, and the other clients don't take much notice of us. The landlord and lady are very welcoming, and make a point of saying hello. All in all, a good social group, and two good places to meet. |

It was an absolutely a fabulous night out. A really friendly and welcoming atmosphere from everyone. I would recommend this event to anyone and will certainly be attending again,

Great night - so many girls in the cafe for tea and cake that we ran out of chairs , and a good crowd made it up the road to the (very welcoming) LychGate pub for more chat and real ale :)

My first time at the current venue. I was a bit apprehensive beforehand but seeing some familiar faces and the positive attitude of some unfamiliar ones made me at ease. Despite this being a café, open to all, it is ideal for first time outings, girls who are a little nervous and more confident, experienced ones. The visit to a nearby real ale pub was a great bonus at the end of the evening. There is the possibility of getting changed at the venue so thoroughly appropriate for all.

Had a great night at trans-matters on Thursday the 13 th April and would recommend it to any T.V. etc who is a little apprehensive the caf'e is really friendly and they do great coffee, Jo-Anne

Was surprised when i walked into the cafe just how many where there which was nice to see. As usual a friendly welcome from the cafe owners and after a couple of hours friendly banter it was off to the pub(friendly). Anyone thinking of coming along just do it. Rachel. |

Finally managed to go for 2nd time this year ..work always gets in the way. Another good night with friends and host Norma when she finally got ready lol. The Café is a lovely place with very friendly staff and always welcoming to everyone. The location is maybe not as ideal as before for first timers but please don't let that put you off as you will be made very welcome and if your worried about going from car to café then there are many girls there who will be prepared to walk with you Once there you will wonder what you were worried about. The Pub afterwards made a great change from the usual one good beer and able to chat easily with a very genial landlady. Definitely worth the effort to support this group to keep going and to help others |

I'd not been to the last few meets, so after the usual tea and chat in the Wild Bytes it was my first time in the Lichgate. Made a pleasant change being in a more mainstream pub, and a great choice of ales. I'll keep getting back here whenever I can.

Another lovely Thursday evening spent in the company of some delightful people. Despite the awful weather there was a good turnout in the cafe which was as welcoming and friendly as always. We then went to a local pub afterwards which although not specifically trans friendly has been very friendly to us on the two occasions we have gone there.

Trans-Matters is a lovely friendly group which meets twice a month, now in WildBytes Cafe in Darlington Street, Wolverhampton. If you would like to experience getting out dressed and meeting trans-folk it is ideal. If you find the prospect scary or you'd like to scout out the location you will be welcome in drab. If you can't/ don't want to travel dressed there is a facilty at the cafe where you can get dressed. After the gathering which finishes at 9pm some of us move on to a pub for a drink. Until recently this was the White Hart, a well known TV-friendly venue in Wolverhampton. Whilst its "hart" is in the right place the White Hart is not the place for a quiet drink and the appreciation of fine ales. So we tried a new pub last time, The Lych Gate. We were treated very well there and made most welcome and this is a pub with a very fine selection of real ales. We had a quiet private room there and could have a really good natter. Trans-Matters just got even better!
