Description:
Comercial Shopping Centre By Day, Bars / Clubs by Night. The nightlife in the YUMBO is mostly characterized by the LGBT scene. Beside leather and fetish bars, gays will also find dark rooms. Some of the bars are restricted to only men or only women. However, in the discotheques or in the sex shops normally all kinds of visitors have a good time: with lots of fun and joy!

GRAN CANARIA MAY PRIDE 2016 !! (Saturday, May 7, 2016)

Only went for first day/night of pride as I was trying to avoid partying a bit! Gay attitude towards trannies was OK - not great, not awful on the whole but many places in the world are more welcoming. Once pride started, the gays seemed much more accepting. Local people and tourists were totally cool which was great. First day/night of pride was brilliant - dancing non-stop with everyone, loads of fun x

GRAN CANARIA MAY PRIDE 2016 !! (Saturday, May 7, 2016)

Yes im marking down my own event. Reason? alot of change in Gran Canaria Pride. For 14 years Maspalomas pride has been run by a charity called Glay, made up of members from the LGBT community. However in May in 2016, Pride was run by a new company called Freedom (spanish company). Having been to Pride since in 2011, I know what its supposed to deliver. I can only express my dissapointment with the whole event. The Yumbo Centre stage delivered a minimum 6 hours of Techno music at full volume that consumed the whole Yumbo Centre (no choice in music as the organisers had forced all the bars opposite to play there stage music). Freedom seem more interested in commercial enterprise in launching their own event in October to make even more money from the community and it feels like they hijacked Pride this year by getting the licence off Glay to host May Pride and promote there own event. The stage performances themselves were weak and the events poor with the exception of a few that were hosted by partnering companies with more experience such as Progays Tdance. We did however get a good 25 trans people out in our group and made the best of this so called pride. We eat together most nights and chilled round the pool under the sun with drinks. We also hosted a few private parties too so it was good to see a few newbies enjoying themselves. If Freedom are hosting May 2017 Pride next year then I would have to think twice before attending. My advise is to go in November for the Winter Pride hosted by Progay. Professional Company who know how to embrace Pride and is run by ex Glay members. It has a more grown up feel with professional acts on stage, good events to attend and limited rave music from the stage. Were there from 7th November 2016.
