As always it was great fun and fair lifted the spirit in these dreary times. It did however prove once again that saying "Oh, we'll bump into each other at the weekend" is WAY harder to do than you might think cos there are SO many flippin' folk there! I did notice some couples out in The Village on Saturday night in particular who seemed just there for a good ol' gawp and a chuckle at 'the trannies'. First of all it kinda offended me, but then I thought "What the Hell", meaning if straight married couples are at least out and about in The Village hopefully they are more likely to be improved by the experience rather than simply living in ignorance... I suspect additional food/drink outlets would be a good idea, and perhaps a communal seated area too? However I appreciate that space in the Gardens is limited so such opportunity is too I guess? |

Simply Fab time from Start to Finish...We were all so lucky that the rain was only on Friday evening and the rest of the weekend stayed dry! Even had a little Sun! Event was very well organised, really great to meet up with our friends and also meet and make some new ones as well. Defo be back next year. Luv Charley xx

My third Sparkle and for me the best. I love the variety of all the events and the Saturday in the park with my friends. I do wish that the pubs/clubs had more air conditioning, I know some do but then this is England, enough said. Here's to my fourth Sparkle. Love Manchester and Canal Street. |

Was my fourth year and it was just as good again It is great for either a first time out or a place to meet friends fantastic oppourtunity for me to be a girl all weekend and i loved it, can also mix with the general public who are on the whole polite and well behaved |

i had a absolutely wicked time at sparkle, its a long way to drive for me but still is always worth it once a year, forget wot the cynics say, go and av a great few days, this year was better than when i went before and seemed alot more organised, so a big fanx to everyone that pitched in and helped xxx luv n stuff roxy xxx |

Here's sparkle from amy's viewpoint! Sparkle started for me early on friday morning, deciding what to wear (a colourful patterned top and ddenim effect skirt) then myself and kim heading off for our 9:15 am train to manchester. Packed train, slow journey we finally arrived down south in manchester 3 hours later. We quickly found our hotel and checked in. Next was lunch... we walked past canal streeet and over to portland street then had lunch in the pizza place under the brittannia. Best ever pizza's!! Afterwards we went to primark to purchase an umbrella and to affleks palace in search of a shop we had come across at a convention weeks earlier. We hunted about in there as girlfriend and boyfriend for a few hours then on to the arndale centre and a walk about a few of the streets just looking in shop windows. Probably at about half past four we arrived at the rembrandt. We popped in for a drink and a quick look, there was some kind of clothes stand in there selling fetish clothes??? Anyway we werent too impressed in there at all. After going back to the hotel to change into my dress for the evening and kim getting all made up over his goatee we went out for some fun and sightseeing. we went to axm, very quiet there, a few people we knew ame in, so we had a chat with them then went to new york new york. We werent impressed in there at all, so we hit taurus. Met sue in there and had fun for a coupe of hours! Sue's a star! The saturday dawned with a headache... but we got up and left the hotel for about half nine and went off to a cafe on oxford street to have breakfast. Then we went for a short shopping trip into the city centre again. trie on clothes in h&m and bought some too, trolled about a few other shops and made it back to canal street in timme for the lunch at villagio's It was a decent lunch, the people lunching were nice and chatty :) After lunch we went to look at sackville gardens... what i saw there put me off... there were a few tents of fetish stuff as well as the regular informaton and other various tents there. A tent selling very overpriced drinks as well (we sent kim to the offie) and a lot of quite old people dressed up as what can only be described as fantasies. Interspersed among them were some better dressed girls. Personally i felt slightly out of place. Stayed there for about half an hour then vanished off back to shopping!! (Guess what amy's hobby is) so, we bought more stuffs and then we went and had my navel peirced!! It hurted :( The evening was slightly better, we hit a couple of bars, chatted to some RG's, chatted to some other people too, had fun, then went for an evening meal at 10pm. We went back off to portland street again for a lovely burgur and chips with a bottle of wine, we spent ages chatting to two couples at the table next to us. Afterwards we went back over to canat street and into a couple more bars and had more fun. Sunday, we got up for nineish, went for breakfast at weatherspoons then shopped in harvey nicks at 11ish. Went back to the pizza place for about quater past twelve for ome more of those amazing pizza's before we went bak to our hotel for ou baggage and our train home. The only thing that spoiled sunday was coming out of that restaraunt and seeing a grown man dressed in a sissy / lolita outfit bending into a car and packing in cases! I f people are going to insist on wearing such ridiculous fetishwear in a busy street in broad daylight its no wonder the rest of us struggle to be taken seriously. All in all, although i had a good weekwnd and never once took my cat ears off ^_^ I feel that as a trans event sparkle was a complete flop. It seemd to cater mostly for the fetish / transvestite scene and not particularly for ts's I felt quite embarrased at times to have been at the event and most likely will not be going to a future one. Kind of a wind down... NOT, its a great Day/night. queues are less, so grab as much fun as you can (you cant handle it all, lol). The pubs and clubs are just so welcoming- just dance all night, fantastic!!
