Charming company. It was certainly my good fortune to be out with these girls again for dinner. Ivy was nice and i'm glad i got to visit it. Phoenix arts club had a different performer on this time, but the crowd there could certainly belt out a show tune. If your lucky enough to go out with the dinner ladies, do. They are lovely...... As ever a lovely evening with super company, thank you Tina for arranging. Starting off in The Salisbury pub, not one I had been in before even in drab mode and was suitably impressed by the persevered gin place style of the timber partitioning and etch primed glass of this vibrant Grade II listed venue. Must admit chuckled when my drink arrived in a traditional mug (well not quiet traditional as it wasn't a four finger straight flued pot), very lady like !!! Restaurant was OK, food was nice, although they had run out of some of the choices from the 'offer' menu. For me I went for the Onion Soup and Bream as my main, the desert was a real star a Pistachio Crème Brûlée yum. Service was err um, bit odd, but OK. Is it me or do Ladies loos always end up looking like a bomb site, why? A rush back across the road to The Salisbury for last orders and we were welcomed back by the bar staff, one of who went out of their way to say how much of a pleasure it had been to serve us. Think will be back. |

Always a good night at dinner, ladies. I have eaten before a Cote and the food was okay, but it wasn't great this time, but as ever the company was lovely

A delightful evening with lovely company. We exceeded 6, (9 in fact, including a newbie). The conversation flowed, and so did the wine. We had the special menu offer, which was maybe not so special. |

Thanks to Tina for organising. Probably the best part of my recent 3 day visit to London. I highly recommend Dinner ladies as fantastic meal out with good company.

Cote on at Martin's lane. A Theatre restaurant which was packed and then empty. The food was pretty average, but as ever it was lovely to see the girls and hit the town. Always a pleasure to meet the retro crew.

Decent meal for an offer price of £25 for 3 courses. Yes we ate in the dark and the menu was limited but you’ll pay £12 for fish and chips. As ever 5 stars to Tina for organising dinner ladies

The £25 meal deal...3 courses plus a glass of wine was good value, but wine and extras bumped up the cost. The singer was an unexpected added bonus. Plushy venue (downstairs) but so dark we could hardly see what we were eating. All in all a very good night. |

Very much enjoyed both the French House pub we met in (very eclectic crowd) and Balans restaurant. One of our group was savvy enough to be aware of some promotional menu: 2 courses for £16, 3 for £20 and once the waiter became aware of our quest to eat from that, they whisked away the mildly eye wateringly priced standard menu and returned with the promo. 3 choices each for starters & main, 5 for desert All smiles and excellent service from the staff. (I've been to a couple of places where a request for a promotional menu has garnered distaste from the staff or responses such as "It's only available on Tuesday mornings from 10am to 11:30am and you need to book 3 years in advance") We enjoyed it so much we all went back a couple of weeks later, and we were treated just as joyously. |

At the Dinner Ladies events a group of girls eat at various restaurants around London mostly on the first Tuesday of a month, but sometimes on other days. The April 2024 Dinner Ladies took place at the Flat Iron, a steak house on Beak Street in Soho. The Flat Iron restaurant, Beak Street, Soho, London,W1F 9RW. My review = This was not a good restaurant. I don't think we'll be going there again. The food = The food was okay, but not great. The spinach was floating in cream for some reason. The mash potato also had vast amounts of cream added. The green salad had no cream fortunately. The chips (fries) I think had been hanging around a few hours before being served to us. The steak was reasonably priced but the girl next to me had to have hers cooked three times before it was right, my own was cooked in the middle and burnt on the outside, and consequently it had shrunk. Sauces/gravy - I asked for gravy but was told they don't do gravy. Instead it was suggested I order barbecue flavour sauce which is just like gravy they claimed - however it wasn't, it was a miniscule container of spicy stuff. There is no puddings served at the restaurant, but you can collect a "free" cone of icecream (yet more cream) as you leave if you like. I didn't eat the ice cream, I gave mine to another lady. This is not a restaurant for vegetarians/vegans/people who don't eat steak. However if you do like steak its probably not a good restaurant for you either. Seating - atrocious, zero marks. There were no chairs, instead you sit at trestle tables with a stool that is attached to the table by a steel bar. This was a problem for ladies with longer dresses as the steel bar was designed to go between your legs. Also very bad for people with disabilities, back issues etc. When the person sitting opposite me moved their arse my seat bounced up and down. Toilets = the toilets were the best feature about this restaurant. They were clean, spacious and well supplied with toilet rolls, soap and individual hand towels. Staff = The staff were friendly. The Colony Room bar = After we left the restaurant we went for a drink at the Colony Room, an underground bar on Heddon Street, just off Regent Street. it was a nice venue and friendly. Top marks for this venue. |

Strangepink, aka Evie, has said it all. It was a great night, and the champagne was the finishing touch. It's nice to be appreciated. I'd encourage any girls to pop into the Colony Room bar. It's quiet early on in the evening, but livens up later. From Wednesday onwards there's a pianist.
