Well done to Claire for once again finding a venue befitting of Magic Theatre. The London Theatre was the host for the first MT since last May. Its one of those hidden gems in South East London, small in size but well laid out, I would imagine the capacity would be ideal for 60 or 70 max. The event had live music by a fabulous two piece set, great singer and backed up by guitarist that suited the theme. After the live act there was plenty of time to have a bit of a boogie with DJ'ed music by one of Claire's lovely friends. So..live music..dancing.....and two nice areas to socialise and chat. The venue has a nice little bar supported by lovely staff. A fab night out.

An amazing, exhilarating and intoxicating night at the wonderful Ivy House! It was breathtaking and one of the best evenings I’ve had in ages! THANK YOU- THANK YOU- THANK YOU- to all the staff at the Ivy House and, of course the organisers of Magic Theatre; the effervescent Claire (she-of-the-stunning-latex-dress), our aficionado for the evening the impish and dazzling Mr. Paul L Martin (Paulus) and the utterly invincible sound of those rockabilly titans – the Piccadilly Bullfrogs who just happened to be playing a medley of Chuck Berry numbers when the news of his death broke; they will never play ‘Sweet Sixteen’ again like the way they did that night! We did the maestro great honour and danced like there was no tomorrow. UTTERLY BRILLIANT EVENING!

Magic Theatre is a grand night out, no question. I'd heard a lot of good things and wasn't disappointed. You still hear a lot of repining for The Rivoli; of course, like everyone, I hope Magic Theatre will be able to return there; the place has a special charm, ideally suited to the event. But I'm as fond of The Ivy House too; alright I'm biassed :-); Magic Theatre beats darts night as a diversion in your local every night of the week personally (I'm rubbish at darts admittedly). I'm not sure we're quite making the most of it though as things are. I feel there's scope for an indigenous event there rather than an uprooted one. In a perfect world, Magic Theatre as known and loved could regain its ecological niche and something different as special but different spring from the roots put down at the Ivy. |

Wow - probably the best event I've ever been to. A really friendly crowd, and organised by the most lovely hostess it's been my pleasure to meet. Slightly peeved by the early finish time imposed on her, Claire took the extraordinary initiative to invite all and sundry back to her home for an after-party. It may be held just once a year, but Magic Theatre is (for me) now an unmissable date in the calendar. Thanks! |

What can I say...other than what a super event, great party atmosphere and a jewel of a function room in the Ivy House. Great decor, with lovely ambiance. Good music with an accommodating DJ happy to play request.....the music on this particular night was good ol Soul, Funk, Rock n Roll, Jazzy Skiffle with a mix of live music too from a very very good band....The Piccadilly Bullfrogs......really good. Well done to Claire for putting on this gem of an event and its every bit as good as her events at the Rivoli........I cant wait for the next one. |

Was an awesome night. Loved the band. Venue was...hmm. A nice enough place I guess but the evening requires something more fabulous.

different venue, not as big, not as many costumes, not as many guys very hot. Best live acts have seen at MT, music superb and enjoyed myself but overall not as good as the old place. Would I go again, probably :) |

The new venue is smaller than the Rivoli and quite awkward to get to. But it has a great heritage and is well equipped, with a much nicer choice of drinks! The turn-out was a lot smaller and not quite as mixed as usual, with fewer spectacular costumes. But still plenty of gorgeous people there, with good entertainment and a lovely happy vibe. Thanks again MT people for a smashing night out. Here's to the next one, wherever that may be! Ella xxx |

My First Time It was well organised and easy to find . Staff and security was very friendly and respectful. There were a wide variety of people in attendance and they were very friendly. The bar had the largest selection of beers and ale. The evening seem to end too quickly...it was due to end at 1:00 but people seem to pack it in just after midnight Had a wonderful time and would go back again and again. |
