The Cockatoo is above the Lodge Bar, the Lodge is not a place for us girls as it is a hard core gay guys club so do be sure to turn right at the shared entrance and go up the stairs!
You will walk into a very well designed, warm and cosy bar area that has a great range of cocktails at fair prices. The staff are very trans/non-binary friendly. It is a nice, civilised place to chill with friends.

A pleasant, modern hotel. Rooms are generally a reasonable size, clean and airy.
Staff are relaxed and friendly, guests are mostly tourists and business people, you do have to walk past reception to leave the hotel. That probably makes the hotel more suited for experienced girls.

Reasonable location for Canal Street, turn left out of hotel and walk along Charles Street for two minutes, then take the fifth left onto Princess Street (large junction with traffic lights) and after one minute you will see the New Union and Canal Street on your right. Neither Charles Street or Princess Street are that busy with pedestrians but they are busy with traffic.
