🌆 Wednesday 28th October in Manchester
Trans people, together with our cis friends and allies have been meeting and socialising in Manchester on Wednesday evenings since the late 1970s as the Manchester TV/TS Group (1974–75), then later as Northern Concord, then as Manchester Concord.
We are a modern evolution of that long Manchester tradition and everyone is welcome. Whether you are completely new, a cross-dresser finding your feet, a trans woman living full time or somewhere in between.
These days we split into two groups, those happy to be in the mainstream town bars and those who prefer the Village. For town just message me and I will let you know our times and locations.
For those in the Village, given the number of bars there, people are not always in the same place at the same time so it is a good idea to put yourself as being at this event and/or to message others to try and arrange meet ups.
📱 Need a little help before or on the day?
If it is your first visit or you're feeling a little nervous, feel free to message me here beforehand and I'll do my best to help. On the day you can message me but you will need my phone number, not Chix mail, as I am not online much while out. I can try to connect village people but I will be out in town and those in the village do not always tell me where they are through the night.
🌈 The Village Option
People often begin meeting during the late afternoon, usually in Via, often moving on to Velvet. Later in the evening they tend to drift between Via, The Goose, Iconic, Oscars, REM, The Molly House, New York New York, Centre Stage, Brewers and other nearby venues often staying out until 3am.
🏙️ The City Option
I am usually out all day and night in mainstream city-centre venues, usually with a few others joining me, we try to eat around 6pm. If you would like to join us in town for any part of the day, you are welcome. Just send me a message beforehand and I'll let you know our plans, there will be walking between bars so walking shoes are important.
🤝 Which option is right for you?
For anyone new to socialising in Manchester, these are two quite different experiences. The city-centre option involves mixing with the general public and is best suited to those who feel comfortable being seen in and socialising in that environment. If you're unsure whether it would suit you, message me beforehand and I'm happy to talk it through.
The Gay Village offers a more diverse nightlife environment and many people find it a comfortable place to begin building their confidence.
