Well l have now fully embraced my femininity and come out of the box. Very worried about the reaction but have been totally surprised at the positive support and how little people take any notice. Wish I'd done it years ago. Been referred to gender clinic.

After a lifetime of not knowing who or what l am l have finally been referred to a psychologist and have been able to talk in depth about my feelings. lt has been a revelation to be open about who and what l am knowing the person l am talking to isn't going to judge me. l have always suppressed my inner woman and since being widowed, and not having to hide it from my wife she has being trying to come out. But having come to this point, a lifetime of fear, self loathing and hiding still won't fully let her out of the box.
l am sure now that if l had been born now instead of when it was a criminal offence to be anything other than straight l would transition. For me dressing as a woman isn't about sex, it's about being who l am. lt's only taken me 60 years to get to this realisation! Yes l love the dresses and all the feminine finery, but for real women that isn't what life is all about, it's about who you are inside.
Most women wear jeans or trousers and don't plaster themselves with makeup. What's the expression, if you want to spot a true transsexual in a crowd of crossdressers, she's the one wearing jeans.
Having said all this l am not attracted to men, a woman or a woman with a penis, yes. Does this mean l can't really believe l am a woman, no! Lots of women aren't attracted to men as lots of men aren't to women.
I am a big girl size 26 with blue eyes and no hair, but that's what wigs are for isn't it?
