I just love the feel of female clothing against my bare skin, the smell of a nice perfume and the sound of my high heels while walking along the pavement. Being male I can live with but sometimes I just have to spend time being my other self.
Being en femme gives me joy and contentment regarding the Me as being more important than the Why. By way of explanation a long time ago having done a little research into what cross-dressing was all about, and why me? Failing to find a satisfactory answer I decided just to enjoy the experience whenever I could. At these times I feel at ease with myself.
I don't get out as Ananda as often as I would like but when I do it is just fabulous. Having applied my make-up and got dressed it starts with a tremendous feeling of excitement before one hits the street, when outside for the first few yards trying to get the walk just right while in high heels, (it's not like walking around the house), observing the reactions of passes by, if any, and then experiencing that great feeling of elation knowing that you have done it!
In addition to visiting the usual tv venues both local and around the country I do try and enter the mainstream. I love shopping, especially for shoes even when I have too many already. I visit museums & galleries and if I am very lucky I just love to be taken out to a restaurant. I am honest enough to know that I do sometimes get read but now know that acceptance is more important then just being twigged. The key I believe is confidence and attitude with a little style. This does not mean that I am ruling out having fun indoors, even just chatting with someone nice with perhaps a bottle of wine I find equally enjoyable.
I am often asked about my name, (usually after correcting them that it is not Amanda). It comes from the Sanskrit and means bliss. According to my dictionary bliss means perfect happiness. This is exactly how I feel when I am Ananda.
I am 1.68m and 70 kilos, or 5'6" and 11 stone if you prefer. My dress size is 14 if sleeveless otherwise 16, and for shoes 7.5 UK/41 Euro. I have brown eyes and try to dress in a way that compliments the occasion. Smart casual is my favourite style. I also like print dresses reminiscent of the 50's worn with strappy high heel sandals. In my wardrobe I have a few designer labels but also lots from M&S, Next and other high street stores. Now a "mature" often in shops I find myself thinking nothing too tight, nothing too short, nothing too much. A shame but I suppose that with the passing of time it's part of the natural order of things. For a quick test I ask myself the question would Fiona Bruce wear it?
During the last week of March '25 I spent a few days on the south coast. My plan was to enter the mainstream as much as possible. During this time I had two lunches at two different pubs, and an evening meal at a very nice restaurant. Everyone I dealt with and the guys at the bar were all very friendly. Many of the other customers completely ignored me which was just great as it demonstrated I was not on display. Nearby I visited a large supermarket walking down the aisles pushing a trolley wearing a summer top, denim skirt and sandals with 2" block heels. No one gave me a second look, all of us just getting on with our shopping. At the till the check-out lady did give me a knowing smile which I reciprocated. I appreciate that to some gurls this experience does not sound very exciting but to me such simple pleasures are those which I value the most when in girl mode. On occasions the razzmatazz side is just great and to be enjoyed but playing a small part in everyday life is enough contentment for me.

The kindness of strangers.
Travelling; my old and battered Tilly hat has protected me under the sun on 5 different continents.
Photography. My favourite photographers are Helmut Newton, RIP, and Don McCullin.
Good food & wine in good company. As to the wine my three favourite C's are Claret, Chablis and Champagne.
Music of all kinds too many to list but especially love Sibelius, the Jacques Loussier/Bach combination, Irish music from Traditional via The Chieftains & Dubliners to Paul Brady & Van Morrison, The Rolling Stones, (only their early days), harmonica blues, The Blues in general, Nina Simone, Etta James, Scott Walker, Dusty Springfield, Willie Nelson, Sir Tom Jones and Julio Iglesias, (this last one is a secret, okay). Being more current I also like Taylor Swift.
