Underwent GRS on 23rd October 2007. Fully recovered and getting on with life. Very rare that I'm on here these days, just can't be arsed with it.
Recently started new job on a mens medium secure mental health ward, was supposed to be on womens rehab step down but they couldn't get the referrals/funding so now it will be a low secure which will open in - well how long is a piece of string - it's been next month for the past few months, sigh. Don't like it, looking for something new
Plans for next year so far, birding holiday maybe in Turkey, Cyprus or Spain, although that might have to be put back a year because of the Rush tour in May (got tickets for Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham) - yes, I like Rush - a lot.
I will respond to any sensible emails that are worthy of a reply - eventually, honest!

How old am I? I was born in March 1967 (work it out for yourself) in Tyneside (moved to Birmingham in 91), about 5'8" (haven't actually measured), blue eyes, medium to long hair (all my own) currently purple, & slim build (average between 10 & 11 Stone).
Started transition Oct 2003. Been on hormones since Dec 2005. Need maybe one or two more laser sessions on my top lip & then some electrolysis here & there to get rid of those damned annoying little white buggers that the laser doesn't work on. My voice needs work, a lot of work, just can't sustain the higher pitch for any length of time, and it really pisses me off.
What am I looking for? I'll know when I find it. However I'm not interested in meets for sex REPEAT - I AM NOT LOOKING TO MEET FOR SEX, but am looking for something long term and local, I am also not interested in anyone who is already in a relationship, even if it is open. I am, however, happy to talk to anyone, but don't suffer fools.... at all! In the unlikely event that you see me in chat, feel free to message me. If I don't respond it means I'm busy doing something else, not ignoring you. I'm usually quiet & shy till I get to know you & you'll find that when I open up a bit I have a wicked & some would say warped sense of humour. Though I may not talk much sometimes, I'm a good listener, so if you need a sympathetic ear I'll be happy to oblige.
What do I like?
I don't drink very often, so prefer "quiet" nights in or a meal out to pubs/clubs. I also have some food intolerances, IBS and ulcers, which means at times I can be quite.....erm ok I'll be honest... very flatulent.
I have an eclectic taste in music, primarily "classic rock", but also folk, jazz/fusion, classical among others & music is a big part of my life so musical compatibility is high on the list of requirements, so one or more of the following selection of artists in no particular order:
Rush, Jethro Tull, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Clannad/Enya, Eliza Carthy, Jean Luc Ponty, Manic Street Preachers, Savage Garden, Spock's Beard, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Muse, Evanescence, Kate Bush, Blackmore's Night, Magnum, Thunder, Joe Bonamassa, Gregorian: Masters Of Chant.
(The list goes on, but you should be getting the general idea by now)

You might also be interested in this, the news hit the media about 6 months after I went to see my GP about transitioning.
Also like the outdoors, nature, countryside & in particular birds, starting to get into photography (of birds, before any of your seedy little minds start to think you can get me to take photos of yourselves doing "stuff").
I used to do crosswords (Guardian, Telegraph or Independent not those crappy tabloid ones) a lot, need to start again to help keep those Grey cells active & sharp.
What I don't like?
Ignorance, prejudice, stupidity & dishonesty.
HPW (if that's your thing, good for you, just not my cup of tea).
C2C, Cyber or Phone sex.
People who don't bother to READ profiles.
Most Television, in particular "reality" shows like x-factor, pop idol, big brother, I'm a celeb, etc. The only things I watch on a regular basis these days are Casualty, House, Monk & the US Law & Order, SVU, & Criminal Intent.
