Well, 2025 has been quite the ride!!
I'm really happy to be back and getting out and about IRL a bit more! I got a bit bored and frumpy with myself, so I thought I'd do something fun and remember the joys of dressing up! I've found a nice space and I'm wondering what you all might think of it... Hence a Magic Theatre reunion drink there on Thursday April 17th, with the aim of bringing back a bit of love and fun in the currently cold climate.. It's a private member's club, Vout-O-Reenee's, well located near Tower Hill tube and Tower Gateway DLR and it's free for us this time. Everyone is very, very welcome. Can't wait to see you, lots to catch up about! Details on the events page.
Hugs,
Claire X
A bit of general stuff about me that's been on here for ages..
I'm an ex-teacher in my - ahem - middle years and fairly well- preserved. My mother's advice on the benefits of ALWAYS removing make-up, cleansing, moisturising and not forgetting one's decollete still holds good!!
I'm very happily married to the kindest man in the world and I'm here to find old friends, make new ones and to enjoy being part of the community.
I've got what might be called a striking rather than a pretty face. I've always had very short hair, blue eyes and still just about hanging on to my figure, although the midriff requires work and foundation wear is becoming erm, more structured!! I've always been quite gamine and I love mixing it up a bit with gender - a bit mannish and tailored one day and uber femme the next. I love simple classic well-cut clothes as much as I love over-the-top feathers and frou-frou and it needs to be said that experiencing the liberating joy of transformation is something that I have the trans community to thank for.
I first got involved in the community 15 years or so ago as a result of a dear friend and colleague of mine, who honoured me with the privilege of meeting her for the first of many fun times. We ended up at the Wayout Club and it was one of the most fabulous evenings of my life! Through Nikki and later through Chix I met so many wonderful, interesting people and have been out and about ever since, life permitting. I co-organised The Magic Theatre at the Rivoli Ballroom for a number of years which many of you remember with fondness as I do. As circumstances changed, the event went to a couple of smaller venues, both of which fell short in terms of the environment a fabulous outfit deserves.
When I left teaching I started courses in Drawing, Painting and Graphic Design inspired by the pleasure I got from designing Magic Theatre flyers and had to adapt to teaching myself in lockdown... Its amazing what you can find on Youtube! Quite where it will take me I don't know....
Since the last Magic Theatre I've been writing - if you don't give things a whirl, you'll never know!
Most of the pictures on here are a bit on the vintage side, but they're my favourites!
