We (Chris and Rachael Brooke) bought the freehold

to what was ‘The Crown Inn’, in September 2015.



After many years of disrepair, the whole building had

become a huge renovation task in much need of updating.

We worked with trusted local builders, joiners, plasterers

and electricians to make sure the building was secure and

safe and did whatever else we could, ourselves.



Finally, after 7 months of refurbishment on May 6th 2016

we opened what is now known as ‘The Birdcage’.



The Birdcage is now a newly established real ale pub offering Doombar as our regular ale as well as an ever changing 3 guest ales from various local breweries such as Poachers, Cathedral Heights, Long Man Brewery and many others. We also have a selection of bottled ales and boxed ciders.



We offer live music, Quiz nights, Open Mic nights, Karaoke nights and anything else that we decide might be fun.

We plan to continually develop our premises to add to its already cosy feel - we want to add to the Beergarden

further with more relaxed seating areas and plush planting



In November 2016 we finished renovating the kitchen and are now serving good home cooked food (see our menu). On Sundays we serve Sunday roasts between 12pm - 4pm. From Tues to Sat our full menu is available and Pizzas, Paninis & Baguettes are available to take away.



Friendly dogs on leads are welcome with a complimentary treat available on entry.

As for parking there is side streets you can park on single yellows after 6.30 in the evenings and in the bays for free from 6.30 pm .
