This is a normal, every day Public House (so please dress respectfully - nothing too outrageous ladies!) but the venue is unique and the atmosphere always friendly and welcoming. The Landlady happens to be very LGBT friendly and always looks after her girls :-) The regulars are well accustomed to us Trans girls turning up on a Thursday night and in all the years I've been attending I have never once had any issues to cause me concern. I have also been to the surrounding bars and nightclubs at one time or another and again have never encountered any problems. Opening hours 12pm till 1am on a Thursday.

TNH starts off at around 8:00pm in the main bar at Hales Bar. It's usually quite quiet around this time and ideal for a chat and natter with the other girls. Thursday night is Karaoke night which kicks off around 9:00pm which is usually when the bar starts filling up and buzzing with a healthy mix of regular patrons as well as visitors to the town. There is no requirement to sing … just drink up the friendly atmosphere of Harrogate's oldest gas lit bar or sample the range of fine ales on draught and enjoy the evening. Although Hales bar is renown for being LGBT friendly it welcomes all clientele. The bar usually closes around 12:00 - 12:30am. Most girls then head off down the road to another bar called Montey's where you can drink and dance the night away (other night clubs are available). Free parking is available after 6:00pm on all the streets surrounding the bars. Please feel free to just turn up but if you are genuinely interested in coming along then making a note of your intentions on this events page would be greatly appreciated so we can have an idea of numbers attending. Great welcoming venue with a wonderful mixture of people last night. All enjoying themselves with the karaoke night. Talent could be considered a hindrance. T gurl wise, the mighty and magnificent Michelle and her torch singer accomplice (kinda) Sophie keep a maternal eye on the flock of lovely ladies and the odd "ner do well" - that's me by the way. By the time I collapsed exhausted into my bed, I felt just that bit better about the state of the world... |

Ive been dropping into Hales for a few years now, sometimes I stay close, other times I catch the bus and walk through town... no problems at all. Im not sure the event even needs organising, the landlady who owns Hales couldnt be more welcoming; Ive personally danced with her and Ive seen her do another girls hair before! Add in the fact that Suzi with an i; actually works there and you've got a very t.girl friendly pub... Sooooo don't worry if no one has their name down for this event as girls often drop by, especially before LFF, which is what happened this time. Ended up sat with Caroline and her wife and a few local faces from the past appeared to, which was nice, plus I got to sing at least 3 times, lucky people! lol so not a bad evening! |

Last TNH of the year… so lovely to “Shake it off” singing a couple of my favourite karaoke tracks in the company of Michelle, Joanna, Suzi, Davina, Cynthia and Jeanette plus the fab Hales staff and customers. Always a fun night out!
