The New Union building houses the New Union Pub and the New Union Hotel. This summary is for the Hotel only, I have listed the Pub seperately.

A family run value for money hotel with a wide variety of rooms from single, double and triple beds. There are a few rooms with a shared shower so make sure you book an ensuite if that is what you want. Some of the rooms can be small so if you want a larger room best make sure you are booking one.

The rooms are all above their bar which has loud music and that can go on to 2:30am on a weekday and up to 6am on weekends. The walls between rooms are thin so if you have noisy neighbours you will hear them until they sleep. A glass recycling lorry collects the empty bottles noisily around 7am so if you like to go to bed early and sleep soundly, this might not be the hotel for you.

The entrance for check in is on Princess Street, go straight through the bar and up the stairs to reception. The bar at daytime is mostly used by friendly gay guys so there is no need to be concerned about them if you are nervous.

You get a key to another exit/entrance which goes directly onto Canal Street so you can discreetly come and go without going past a reception/bar. They will ask you for a £20 cash deposit for the key in case you lose it, they will only accept cash for this so be sure to have £20 on you at check in, they give you the cash back on check out, there has never been a problem with this, it is not a scam, they just don't want their keys to be lost.

This hotel is good for nervous or inexperienced girls due to the discreet exit/entrance once you are checked in and that you can walk out of the hotel straight onto Canal Street.
