 Leeds First Friday takes place in the heart of Leeds on the first Friday of every month. It’s a big, lively, properly social day and night for the entire trans community, plus partners, friends and allies. Alongside the wider night across the Freedom Quarter, we also host our own LFF events throughout the day and evening. Things kick off with Pints N Straws, our taproom tour from 2 to 6pm. A gentle warm up, good beer, good chat, zero pressure. From 7pm, The LFF Big Meetup takes over Booksellers Arms (formerly, The Bridge End Social). This is the main gathering point and the easiest place to find familiar faces and new ones. At the same time, Made It!, our dedicated newcomer meet, runs from 7 to 8pm at The Bridge Bar. It’s smaller, calmer, and designed for first timers who want a softer landing. Later on, Cocktails at 9 heads to Farrands Bar from 9pm for those who fancy something a little more polished. Booking is required for this one with Lucy Hutchinson, because its popular and places remain stubbornly finite. Beyond that, the night unfolds as you want it to. We drift between bars and clubs across the Freedom Quarter, with no fixed route and no expectations. You choose where you go, who you’re with, and when you call it a night. That freedom is kind of the point. Safety matters to us, quietly and properly. On the night, support is available through Angels of Freedom, the Night Safe Space Bus, Ask For Angela schemes, West Yorkshire Police partnerships, and spiking prevention initiatives. You do not need to memorise any of this. All the details are clearly laid out in our app at leedsfirstfriday.com/app, so help is there if you need it and politely invisible if you do not. And because we like a proper ending, we regroup the next morning. Wapentake runs from 10am on Saturday. A calm debrief, carbs, caffeine, and the soft realisation that you definitely said you were going home earlier. To book, call Wapentake 01132432961 they do walk-ins if you don't know how you will be in the mourning. LFF isn’t about being stuck in one venue. It’s about bumping into people, reappearing hours later, and feeling part of the city rather than tucked away from it. You’ll mix with the wonderful chaos of Leeds and yes, you’ll feel visible. In a good way. First time? You’re absolutely not on your own. We have a big, friendly team who know exactly how daunting this can feel and exactly how quickly it usually stops feeling that way. LFF continues it's upwards trajectory attracting a massive spectrum of gender and age. From my perspective, the huge increase in "the younger end" augers well for its longevity. The choice of venues (from loud/shouty, to quiet for a chat and catch-up) also grows apace.

Been out to other events and mainstream night outs but this was my first LFF and it didn't disappoint. Thanks so much for the organisers doing this, had a great time it flew in. Lots of first timers there and even one on their first time out ever! Will be back, Leeds felt welcoming and not judgemental. |

Another great night — it was my second time, and it was just as enjoyable as the first. 😊 I’ve seen some mention of “cliques”. As someone who is still fairly new to the community, I can understand why people might see it that way. There are obviously groups of people who have known each other for years, so naturally they’re going to have established friendships. I always attend on my own, and being new to the community, I don’t know that many people yet. However, from my experience, I wouldn’t say that means people are unwelcoming. I went to Pints-n-Straws for the first time, but unfortunately no one really spoke to me, so after a while I headed back to my hotel to get changed and ready for the evening. I then went back to the last venue, where I had a completely different experience. I got chatting to a few people and ended up joining them for the rest of the evening. Like someone else mentioned, people drifted in and out of the group throughout the night, and I had a great time. So, from my experience, I think it can sometimes be more about finding your way into a conversation or group when you’re new, rather than people deliberately excluding anyone. I’m still finding my feet, but nights like this definitely make me want to keep coming back and get to know more people. 😊 |

Always delivers a great night and always a few memories high /low points lol. Again some try to make out there are "cliques"...there arent ,there are groups of friends who chat together ,i myself was in such a group and we had folk leave and join us all night .So im afraid if YOU cant integrate yourself into the night and socialise with others ,then the issue lies with YOU! Some folk seem to think they are entitled to walk into any ones social circle ?its just like any other bar in any country ,u get groups of friends who are oblivious to others ,clique mens to DELIBERATLY exclude ,thats not the case or experience for me . Shame this review had to be more a defence of a false narrative ... SO AGAIN ,NO CLIQUES !JUST A GREAT NIGHT OUT !! |
