Attended the last event night. Nice smart venue . Too big for the number attending only about 20 if that . However I met a nice guy so not a bad night. Needs more people to attend to make it buzz.

First night at this venue. I arrived just before midnight Joy, the hostess is Filipina, as is the venue (which seems to be a Karaoke bar - not something you would associate with Shepherds Bush) There was a enjoyable cheesy performance bit. Security professional, discreetly removing a drunk guy who wanted to go onto the stage. I understand the next night will be on 10 October. Good fun. |

Joy! first night on wednesday... a one sentence summary is if you are looking for a centre-west londonmidweek slightly smaller wayout club experience, Joy looks like the answer. the venue is 100 yards from the west side of Westfield (Shepherds Bush), just up an OK side street from the busy Uxbridge Road so OK to arrive and get out of a taxi or stand outside and smoke without hassle and is surrounded by tube stations and a fairly major bus terminal - and it isnt more than 10 minutes off the M4 or Westway M40/A40 so anyone from Guildford, Camberley, Reading etc can get there very easily and quite quickly by car - parking free after 10 which is a good time to come anyway.... and it couldn't be easier for Londoners to get there the venue itself, a good size, nice shape, good layout, good dance floor, fantastic light system, great seating - just very well laid out and we all know how some other venues struggle to crack the layout problem - this one has it sorted. it's a filipine owned club and they're fully up to speed with the trans scene and all the fili girls will already know the place but importantly it is friendly and welcoming to everyone - and Joy herself definitely wants to provide an all inclusive 'be what you are, be who you are, be happy' experience. what could improve - well it was a first night tester so there are bound to be snags but i have to say there were very very few. i would say Joy got it 95% right - there is a hell of a lot to like and most people with experience of all london's venues would get there and think 'yes, this is going to work' and it did. i'm recommending a £5 entry for all, all night, whether you are early or late, not just the girls - because there were maybe 70 girls and 20 guys, so guys, do the maths and get your arses there for event number 2! basically the guys who went have discovered a good thing and theyre not going to tell you about it. i'm sorted in that department, so I am happy to blurt out west london's little secret! cabaret...hmmm... its never been my thing and with a very few exceptions, it isnt done well enough to be any good... and i think that was the not highest point of the evening, but hey! it's a learning process. oh, what else... it isnt full of tourists or hen/stag nighters out for a bit of an experience - it is purely trans scene, which means everyone and anyone on this site will be completely at home there. it isnt like standing in a corridor with people barging past the whole time - the layout is a winner. it is a weekday, for all those who wished they could hit wayout but cant - you know why!! summary - if you could put together all the things you wish a trans scene club had, with the exception of the seedy bits that are catered for by the sticky floored well know other places available, somewhere you could go to take your trans gf or to find your trans gf... this is it. and Joy - fab host! well done Joy!, its a permanent fixture for me. |
