Trans Monthly Get Together (Monday, May 26, 2014)

Eight of us this month... I think that is again a slight increase. and takes to 12 separate individuals over the past few months.

We are a small group but in just a few months are getting to know one another better each time.

Sticky Bits is such a great venue for an informal social - music - but no to loud, Food but not too fancy, refreshments - cheap and alcohol too.

If getting out more is your thing - or meeting with others who are local and can share info and advice.... then these meetings are just the thing.

Hope to see more next month.. when we may go on for a supper somewhere.

Great - our second North Cumbria Trans* Social saw a few more adorn the sofas at Sticky Bits...
... I seem to be the only one that eats and drinks... God knows how the others subsist. Anyway great to meet a few new faces from Carlisle and out west - keeping the friendly rivalry going between Whitehaven and Workington contingent.
Rachel from Equality Cumbria was there to offer more informed advice if required while Pam helped oil the wheels with coffees etc..

In a large and dispersed county it can at times be difficult to feel a sense of connection - a sense of community - hopefully these monthly events will help local girls ( & boys) do a little networking.

More next month...

Value for money - top marks completely free,

Venue - Sticky Bits is a really good base from which to run such socials - a kind of cafe lounge with bar - where you don't need to wait to be seated, don't get fleeced for a acrid coffee in a plastic cup. Think LGBT friendly Costas.

Sure it might have been more buzzing if more had turned up .. but hey this was after all a first trial meeting - and those attending all agreed to meet again next month.

Pam - is patient and understanding - so dedicated to providing a comfortable and safe meeting place that feels main stream. Rachel from Equity Cumbria on hand too if local info is required.

Safe, fun and we over ran ...chatting until 10pm

Well Done Sticky Bits.

Puddings & Puzzles Event... (Saturday, February 8, 2014)

The puddings were delish as ever and there was a wide variety to choose from, as Pam the owner had got carried away with her baking again. I had pear and mango crumble with ice cream; queen of puddings; and lemon meringue pie and I felt more than full afterwards. The quiz questions were a little hard at times, and I confess to using my mobile phone to answer some of them & our team won tickets to the Bears Aloud night at The Regency on 22 February. I will post pics of the puds, which are still on my phone when I get the opportunity. Pams cakes & puddings are delish whenever she makes them, and there is a variety of homemade cakes to choose from every day Sticky Bits Cafe is open. Sitanya Cox paid a couple of visits to Sticky Bits Cafe before doing her own version of The Price Is Right in The Regency later, and there were some colourful, entertaining characters out celebrating a birthday in very flamboyant style at The Regency later, I might post a couple of pics of this too later. The Regency got very busy & vibrant later on!!

Lovely festive themed meal served before christmas. Good variety of dishes on offer, which everyone seemed to enjoy. There were lots of people on hand to serve the food. Two people who attended were former owners of an upmarket restaurant in Carlisle and they were impressed with the quality of the food, so it must have been good!! There was a good atmosphere with lots of chatter and I stayed behind afterwards chatting to people, which I did for the curry night also!!
