Open since 1995, Via is often called the 'grande dame" of Canal Street. A bar with friendly and welcoming staff, chilled customers from across the spectrum, drinks are reasonably priced, they serve meals from 12pm until 8pm with a varied menu of good, pub standard food, all reasonably priced.Inside it has a unique gothic decor with open seating areas, window seats and some discreet nooks and crannies tucked away in a multi-level layout that allow for private chats and there is some nice quirky gothic furniture for photo opportunities.
Outside, there is a canal-side seating area for when we have the good Manchester weather- yes we do have some!
Via is good for a destination venue for meeting up with people for chats early in the evening, after 8pm the music and entertainment gets progressively louder as they have some very popular drag DJ's who play the venue.

This was my first time venturing out for a night out and Alison and the other girls made me feel really welcome. There’s plenty of close hotels and car parking around for you to choose from. Staff in all the bars were really friendly as were the people on the streets. I had no problems walking from my hotel to the bars or back later that night. Canal St on a Wednesday night with a group of likeminded girls is a great night out especially if it’s your first time. Just go and do it you’ll have a great night 😊 |

Another lovely social night with a very lovely group of around 18+ girls, thank you all for coming x Pride preperations disrupted the normal meeting arrangement at Via but as we were all in touch by emails/phone numbers it was easy to move the meeting point and let everyone know where we were through the evening, a little organisation is always helpful! |

What a super night, over 18 super girls who came from far and wide (as far as Scotland) and of course some locals too. Some Wednesday night regulars, some post-Covid returnees to Manchester and some first time out in Manchester. A really diverse, fun and interesting social group of girls all having fun and sharing their trans journeys and experiences with each other. I went to Northern Quarter first in the afternoon for coffee, cake and chat with a few girls, then we went shopping in Superdrug and for a wander around before meeting up with the girls in the evening. Thanks for a lovely evening y'all xxx |
