Wednesday 11th February
Trans people, along with our cis friends and allies, have been meeting and socialising midweek in Manchester since the late 1970s. That tradition is still going strong. Whether you’re completely new to this, a cross-dresser finding your feet, a full-time trans woman or anywhere in between, you are welcome to join us and find what works for you.
We have a well-trodden every-Wednesday schedule, with two options depending on your experience and interests;
🌈 The Village Option
For locals and regulars, visitors, novices and those who prefer scene bars and familiar locations.
6:00pm – 9:00pm
You’ll usually find us in Via or Velvet on Canal Street.
8:00pm-ish – 11:00pm
Ladies meet up at Iconic Bar on Richmond Street — a relaxed, friendly little bar where you get 10% off drinks just for being trans 🙂
11:00pm-ish onwards
People usually drift back to Via on Canal Street or to The Goose, New York New York, or Centre Stage on Bloom Street.
🏙️ The City Option
For those comfortable among the general public or ready to spread their wings with support.
I’ll be at random places in town and/or the suburbs all day through to 2:00am, message me if you’d like to hang out. From 2pm fixed times and activities are:
2:00pm-ish – 5:00pm-ish
Shopping and café/bar hopping in the city centre.
5:30pm-ish – 8:00pm-ish
After 10 of us poshed it up at the Ivy last week we are a bit more down to earth for our evening meal at Smithfield Social aka as The Social, 53-55 Thomas Street, Northern Quarter M4 1NA where they will have a 50% off their menu February offer and Happy Hour drinks 4-7pm.
From 8:00pm-ish
I’ll decide where to go on the night.
If anyone needs walking back to The Village, I’m happy to do that first.
A few important notes for the City Option:
If you’d like to meet up, I can share my contact details.
Please be on time — past experience has taught me to stick to my schedule. If you’re late, I will have moved on.
We’ll be among the mostly straight general public so please dress in a way that a mother wouldn’t find impossible to explain to her child why we choose to be diverse.
Wear shoes suitable for walking — I’m not into snail-paced wanderings around town.
If you have any questions, message me here. You can also join our Manchester & North West Networking Facebook group, “The Buzz” — a private and very secure group. You’ll need to ask me for an invitation.
Come along if you can. It’s a lovely, social evening — a chance to make new friends, new memories and to continue a tradition of trans people meeting in Manchester on weekdays for almost 50 years.
And honestly… how much life do any of us have left anyway?
So let’s make the most of it. 💜
