Wednesday 15th July
Trans people, along with our cis friends and allies, have been meeting and socialising midweek in Manchester since the late 1970s. That tradition is still going strong. Whether you’re completely new to this, a cross-dresser finding your feet, a full-time trans woman or anywhere in between, you are welcome to join us and find what works for you.
We have a well-trodden every-Wednesday schedule with two options depending on your experience and interests;
🌈 The Village Option;
6:00pm – 9:00pm
Usually Velvet on Canal Street.
Alternatives if you prefer: The Molly House (1st floor, often cardigans, real ale and folk music-focused). The Goose (quiz night). Oscars/Eva/The Church/Brewers/Via/NY2 (cafe bar open only).
8:00pm-ish – 11:00pm
Usually meet in Iconic Bar on Richmond Street
11:00pm onwards
Most drift back to Via or head to:
The Goose
NY2 (cafe bar open only)
Centre Stage (all on/near Bloom Street)
🏙️ The City Option
For anyone comfortable among the general public or ready to spread their wings with support from those of us experienced at being out and about.
I am always in town and/or the suburbs all day through to around 2:00am, feel free to message me if you’d like to hang out with me. The times and activities are always approximate except for dinner as the table usually has to be booked:
Up until 3pm I will be wandering around town or the suburbs shopping, cafe-ing and just generally pootling about.
3:00pm-ish
Christine and I will be in Via on Canal Street.
4:00pm-ish to 5:50pm for drinks in The Paramount, 33-35 Oxford Street M1 4BH
6:00pm to 8:00pm The Bishopgate, 7-11 Lower Mosley Street M2 3DW Please let me know if you wish to come so I can book you in with our group.
From 8:30pm-ish to 11:00pm-ish we will join those in Iconic Bar.
11:00 pm-ish Fab Cafe (not a cafe but a 70's/80's themed bar with DJ playing Indie tracks from around that time) at 109 Portland Street M1 6DN
A few important notes for the City Option:
If you’d like to meet up, I can share my contact details.
Please be on time- past experience has taught me to stick to my schedule. If you’re late, I will have moved on.
We’ll be among the mostly straight general public so please dress in a way that a mother wouldn’t find impossible to explain to her child why we choose to be diverse.
Wear shoes suitable for walking as I’m not into snail-paced wanderings around town.
If you have any questions, message me here. You can also join our Manchester & North West Networking Facebook group, “The Buzz” — a private and very secure group. You’ll need to ask me for an invitation.
Come along if you can. It’s a lovely, social evening, a chance to make new friends, new memories and to continue a tradition of trans people meeting in Manchester on weekdays for almost 50 years. If you are a cis man, please arrange to come with one of the ladies or speak to me first so we can make sure your expectations of the evening are reasonable as we are not a dating or sexual activities group.
And honestly… how much life do any of us have left anyway so let's spend it, when we can, doing what lights up our lives
