The Manchester ladies social can be found here from 8pm each Wednesday.Iconic is a cosy bar tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Canal Street on the adjacent Richmond Street.
It used to be a hair salon that is now known as a friendly bar with an impressively well-stocked spirits collection, particularly when it comes to gin as they have up to 150 in stock at times). All of their drinks are reaosnably priced.
The staff team and owner are very supportive of our trans community, are chilled and relaxed and everyone is friendly and chatty. You will be very welcome here and not judged in any way.
The Decor is warm and cosy, the music is gentle background music with no DJ's or drag acts most nights though there is ‘Monday night madness’ SpeedQuizzing and Thursday night bingo. On most nights it is a good place to come and sit, relax with friends and have a chat together.
It is one of the nicer bars in the area but also one of the lesser known bars too so be different and give it a try.

Wednesday 30th April Our Manchester Wednesday social evening is centred on meeting between 8pm to 11pm in Iconic Bar at 29 Richmond Street M1 3NB where we get 10% off their drinks just for being us :-) There are usually around 20ish that will be out during the evening, not all are always in Iconic at the same time as people drift in and out through the evening. The ladies out will vary from first time out socially to full time experienced and everything in between and they will be both locals and visitors from around the country. Everyone is always friendly and approachable but if you are alone or new, ask for me when you get here and I will introduce you to everyone. If you come and sit on the edge of the group without asking for me I will assume you want privacy so I won't interrupt you. If you need additional support such as being met at your hotel I am always happy to come and do that 'cos I love wandering around Manchester :-) During the daytime I will be out around Manchester centre and/or local towns shopping and cafe-ing, if you want to join me please just ask but please be on time as I am not good at hanging aorund waiting :-) Some of us eat out before Iconic between 5:45pm to 8pm and this week I will post where we will be eating by the Sunday evening prior to the Wednesday. If you want to join us you are very welcome. I get asked if the non-LGB places I go to are "trans friendly"..... in my experience if we behave and dress sensibly and stay alert we are at no greater risk than cisgender women who in their daily lives have to be aware of VAWG (violence against women and girls) but if you don't want to leave the village you will usually find some of our ladies out in either Velvet or Via before 8pm. When Iconic closes at 11pm I leave the village again, you are welcome to join me if you wish, if you prefer to stay in the village then popular locations to go to at that time are; The Goose, New York New York, Eva, Via, Oscar's, The Brewers, BarPop .... there is also Centre Stage but I am am barred from there so I obviously will not give it any recommendation, please make your own choice about it. Wednesday 21st May This Wednesday some of us will be gathering for a dinner at Giorgio in Portland Street starting at 7 to 7:30pm until around 9pm after which we will head to Iconic. You can see the details of the dinner here in Chix events under Lovely Ladies Dinner at "Giorgio's" For those of you who can't make the dinner then other ladies will be meeting between 8pm to 11pm in Iconic at 29 Richmond Street M1 3NB. We get 10% off drinks here just for being us. Generally there will be up to 20 Ladies out socialising in the evening but not all of them are necessarily in Iconic bar at the same time as people drift in and out. The ladies present will vary from first time out socially to full time experienced and everything in between and will be both locals and visitors from around the country. You will always find someone that you can relate to and compare your personal journey with as everyone is friendly and approachable. If you are alone or new, ask for me when you get there and I will introduce you to everyone. During the afternoon I will usually be out shopping and cafe-ing but never in the village, if you want to join me just message me but please don't leave it to the last minute as I will already be committed to being places. I am happy to come and meet you if you need that but please be on time or I will wander off again. Before 8pm you will usually find some of our ladies out in either Velvet or Via. When Iconic closes at 11pm I will leave the village again and hang out somewhere until around 2am, you are welcome to join me if you wish, if you prefer to stay in the village then popular locations to go are; The Goose, New York New York, Eva, Via, Oscar's, The Brewers, BarPop and there is Centre Stage but as I am barred from here I obviously can not give it a recommendation so make your own choice about there. A really nice friendly social gathering, Alison always looks out for anyone who is new and introduces them to the regular girls. The crowd will move from Iconic Bar and onto centre stage, but there us freedom to go to other bars like Via Bar Pop.

Iconic is a lovely little bar it's within the Village but perhaps one of its lesser known bars. A really good place to meet others who are out in the city on a Weds night. Staff are accepting and polite and other girls are likely to chat with you and make sure no one is alone. L ź

What a lovely evening, I met the group in the Iconic Bar and was welcomed and introduce to the girls. Everyone was so friendly and I felt included in the the group from the first minute. Lovely bar and easy going Bar staff. Then some of use headed off to Via, to watch( dance) the Drag Queen, great fun... I ended up at New York night club and Eva.. What a fab night and it's comforting making the connection with Alison and the group as there is always a friendly face when your our around the Village. Alison is a lovely and friendly host and is happy to help you throughout the night. I'm looking forward to my next visit... |
